B/SPOKE LIFT INSTRUCTOR

At B/SPOKE, we believe fitness should be inspiring, rewarding, and complementary to the rest of life's pursuits. For many, it's therapy — a way to reset, reconnect, and grow. Our approach is holistic, rooted in movement, coaching, and meaningful human connection.

We're looking for LIFT Instructors who are exceptional coaches first. They combine technical expertise, advanced programming knowledge, barbell coaching experience, and authentic connection to create a safe, challenging, and empowering experience for every client. Beyond the studio floor, they are professionals, teammates, and leaders who help strengthen the B/SPOKE community.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Role: Part-Time LIFT Instructor

Location: South Boston only, all class times

B/SPOKE LIFT Instructors lead programming-driven strength classes focused on barbell training, functional strength, movement quality, and progressive overload. They coach clients through foundational and advanced strength movements while creating an environment where clients feel confident, challenged, supported, and empowered.

LIFT Instructors are responsible for delivering technically sound, intentional programming that prioritizes safe movement, effective training principles, and a consistent B/SPOKE experience in every class.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a coach first. You understand that great strength coaching goes beyond demonstrating exercises — it requires the ability to teach movement, build confidence, and create thoughtful programming that helps clients progress.

You have experience coaching strength training in a group fitness environment and are confident working with barbells, compound movements, and progressive strength programming.

Successful candidates bring:

  • Strong understanding of strength training principles, movement mechanics, and exercise progression
  • Demonstrated experience coaching barbell-based movements, including proper setup, technique, and safety considerations
  • Ability to create intentional, progressive programming that supports client goals
  • Confidence coaching clients of varying experience levels through technical movements
  • Strong cueing skills and the ability to identify and correct movement patterns
  • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to lead a room
  • A coachable mindset and commitment to continuous growth
  • A collaborative approach and desire to contribute positively to the B/SPOKE community

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Before applying, please confirm that you meet the minimum eligibility requirements below.

Minimum Eligibility

  • At least 1 year of experience teaching strength-based group fitness classes
  • Current Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification through an accredited organization (NASM, ACE, NSCA, ACSM, ISSA, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience coaching barbell-based strength movements
  • Strong understanding of strength programming principles, including movement selection, progression, loading, volume, and intensity management
  • Current CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain before Training begins)
  • Has taken at least 10 B/SPOKE LIFT classes within the past 6 months (exceptions may be considered at the discretion of the B/SPOKE Recruitment & Training Team)

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Programming Expertise

You understand how to design effective strength programming, not just individual workouts. You can create intentional class structures that balance challenge, accessibility, and progression. You understand how to select movements with purpose, manage training variables such as load, volume, intensity, and rest, and build programming that supports long-term client development.

Barbell Coaching & Technical Expertise

You have hands-on experience coaching barbell movements and understand the importance of proper setup, positioning, technique, and progression. You confidently coach foundational lifts, provide clear corrections, identify common movement patterns, and create a safe environment where clients can build strength and confidence under the bar.

Coaching & Leadership

You are a coach first. You communicate with clarity, deliver purposeful cueing, and create an environment where clients feel confident learning new movements and challenging themselves. You lead with professionalism, presence, and authenticity while building trust with every client.

Culture & Team Contribution

You represent the B/SPOKE brand with integrity both inside and outside the studio. You're reliable, collaborative, and open to feedback, recognizing that great instructors never stop learning. You contribute positively to our instructor community and are committed to creating an inclusive experience where every client feels welcomed and empowered.
